Electrochemical hydrogen production from biomass

چکیده
Thermodynamic data indicate that the oxidation of oxygenated organic species originating from biomass instead water at anode an electrolysis cell should allow decreasing voltage below 1.23 V. Biosourced alcohols, polyols, sugars, lignocellulosic compounds, and their derivatives are then electroreformed to produce clean hydrogen cathode compounds cells. The reported studies highlight main challenges make electroreforming a future industrial process: higher reaction kinetics evolution rate; better selectivity catalysts toward formation CO2 or added-value compounds; utilization nonstrategical metals. An attractive solution decrease production costs bankable other economic activities consists in directly valuing wastes agriculture/forestry (lignocellulosic raw materials) and/or biofuel industries.

Simulation and modeling of hydrogen production from glucose biomass model compound via hydro-thermal gasification
Glucose is a 6-carbon carbohydrate compound present in plants and the ingredient for hemicellulose which makes up 30% of plants’ total mass. The current study uses glucose as reactant and evaluates hydrogen generation at different temperatures and different amounts of input flow of glucose – water mixture. Hydrothermal gasification method is used for hydrogen generation in an open system with c...
متن کاملHydrogen from algal biomass: A review of production process
Multifariousness of biofuel sources has marked an edge to an imperative energy issue. Production of hydrogen from microalgae has been gathering much contemplation right away. But, mercantile production of microalgae biofuels considering bio-hydrogen is still not practicable because of low biomass concentration and costly down streaming processes. This review has taken up the hydrogen production...
متن کاملHydrogen Production by Gasification of Biomass from Copoazu Waste
Biomass is becoming a large renewable resource for power generation; it is involved in higher frequency in environmentally clean processes, and even it is used for biofuels preparation. On the other hand, hydrogen – other energy source – can be produced in a variety of methods including gasification of biomass. In this study, the production of hydrogen by gasification of biomass waste is examin...
متن کاملHydrogen Production from Biomass Gasification with Ni-Fe/Al Catalysts
Producing clean hydrogen from renewable resources will reduce our dependence on using fossil fuels towards a green and sustainable future. Biomass gasification is regarded as a promising technology for hydrogen production. In this work, low cost Ni-based catalyst was applied in a two-stage fixed bed reaction system. Fe was added into Ni-Al catalyst(80mol.% Al) by co-precipitation method with va...
